St. John-Hudson 54, Central Plains 45
GREENSBURG — The Central Plains High School boys’ basketball team held a six-point lead at halftime.
St. John-Hudson turned things around in a hurry in the third quarter to win a Class 2A Sub-State Tournament championship and a trip to Manhattan for the 2A State Tournament.
Tigers’ Dean Wade dominated the game with 35 points, going 11-for-12 from the free-throw line.
Cole Kinnamon added 13 points.
Layne Bieberle scored 19 points to lead the Oilers, and Michael Ryan added 10 points.

Macksville 72, Victoria 43
BURRTON — Things were tied after one quarter, 15-all.
Macksville outscored Victoria 21-8 in the second quarter and dominated the 1A Division-I Sub-State Tournament championship game from there.
Tanner Tranbarger scored 27 points to lead the Mustangs.
Simon Miller unleashed a monster of a double-double with 26 points and 21 rebounds.
Macksville will compete in the 1A D-I State Tournament this week in Emporia.

Central Christian 68,
Otis-Bison 53
Otis-Bison led by two points after eight minutes.
Central Christian led 25-23 at halftime, and added to its lead in the second half to win a 1A D-II Sub-State Tournament championship at Barton Community College’s Kirkman Activity Center.
The Cougars were led by Kyle Patrick, who finished with 28 points.

GIRLS

Central Plains 60,
Ellinwood 44
GREENSBURG — Ellinwood led 33-32 at halftime.
Central Plains dominated the 2A Sub-State Tournament championship from there.
The Lady Oilers earned a trip to the 2A State Tournament, which will be held at Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan.
Central Plains was led by Taylor Rolfs, who scored 22 points.
Reagan Phelan added 13 points for the Lady Oilers.
Rachel Doll scored 14 points to lead the Lady Eagles.
Kelsea Ward added 11 points.

Victoria 45,
Macksville 25
BURRTON — Macksville trailed from the outset, falling behind 15-3 after the first quarter.
Victoria kept on the pressure to win a 1A D-I Sub-State Tournament championship.
Sophie Filbert led the Lady Mustangs with 10 points.

Wilson 58, Otis-Bison 49
Otis-Bison couldn’t keep up with Wilson throughout the 1A D-II Sub-State Tournament championship game.
Wilson outscored the Cougars in three of the four quarters on its way to the title.
The Lady Cougars were led by Taylor Regan, who finished with 28 points.

GIRLS

Otis-Bison 34, Elyria 27
The Otis-Bison High School girls’ basketball team upset Elyra Christian on Friday night to advance to Saturday’s Class 1A Division-II sub-state championship game against Wilson.
The Lady Cougars really took a hold of the game in the second quarter, outscoring Elyria 9-2.
Otis-Bison was led by Taylor Regan, who scored 18 points, including seven in the final quarter.

Thursday

BOYS

Larned 72, Russell 37
RUSSELL — Larned led 15-4 after eight minutes, and cruised to beat Russell in the semifinal game of the 4A D-II sub-state.
Larned advanced to a face Pratt in a 4A D-II championship game.
Easton Palmer paced the Indians with 16 points.
Jake Zimmerman and Camryn Bryant added 10 points apiece.

Central Plains 58,
South Central 41
GREENSBURG — South Central outscored Central Plains 18-16 in the second quarter, but the Oilers controlled the rest of the semifinal game of the 2A sub-state.
Central Plains was led by Layne Bieberle, who scored 26 points, going 8-for-8 from the free-throw line.
Michael Ryan added 16 points.

GIRLS

Russell 44, Larned 37
RUSSELL — Larned only trailed 29-23 heading into the final quarter, but Russell kept ahead to advance to the 4A D-II sub-state championship game.
Allyson Aldrich led the Lady Indians, who scored 18 points, including four 3-pointers.
Larned finished the season with a 5-16 record, as Russell advanced to face Pratt.
