KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Bradley Wright-Phillips scored his league-leading 11th goal of the season, and the New York Red Bulls ended a three-match losing streak with a 1-1 draw against Sporting Kansas City on Tuesday.
Sporting (5-4-4) finished in a draw for the second straight match and is winless in its past four.
Toni Dovale put Kansas City up 1-0 in the ninth minute with his first MLS goal, with an assist from Benny Feilhaber, but New York (3-5-6) equalized in the 50th.
Thierry Henry, making his 100th start for the Red Bulls, sent a through ball to Wright-Phillips, who drove into the penalty area and put a low shot just under Sporting keeper Eric Kronberg. That pulled him one goal ahead of Sporting's Dom Dwyer, who had a four-match scoring streak broken.
Dwyer was trying to match Preki's club record, set in MLS' inaugural season in 1996.
After Dovale's goal, Sporting didn't manage another shot on goal until the 79th minute, when Luis Robles had to go high and to his left to stop another shot from the Spanish midfielder.
