Stony Brook races past St. Thomas Aquinas 70-49

STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) — Jameel Warney scored 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting, grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked five shots as Stony Brook raced past Division-II St. Thomas Aquinas 70-49 on Saturday in the NIT Season Tip-Off finale.
Kameron Mitchell had 14 points and Carson Puriefoy added 11 with 10 rebounds and five assists. Tyrell Sturdivant also scored 11 points for Stony Brook (5-2), which shot 45 percent from the field and had 19 assists on 27 made field goals.
Mitchell hit a pair of 3-pointers and Warney added a dunk, tip-in and layup during a 14-0 run that moved the Seawolves out to a 27-9 lead at the 5:25 mark in the first half. Stony Brook led 37-16 at the break and coasted in the second half, leading by as much as 26.
The Saints were held to 20-of-60 shooting and got out-rebounded 45-32. Shaquille McFarlan paced St. Thomas Aquinas with 13 points.
