LARNED — Country Living of Larned has begun construction on a new building for a 12-bed licensed residence on the property that currently houses its two existing buildings at 710 West Ninth Street in Larned.
The building site is between the existing Memory Care and the Assisted Living residences. The newest edition will be an “Assisted Living in a Home Like Setting.”
The building will be a 6,166-square-foot residence which will provide a setting for 12 seniors with health-care needs and employment of eight full-time employees. It will be Country Living’s newest addition to its Continuum of Care Community.
The new building will take approximately 10 months to complete and is being constructed under the supervision of Haynes Electric of Larned. Local contractors will be employed for most of the construction work.
“There is an increasing need for a setting that provides a continuum of care for our residents and the citizens of our area,” said Laura Smith, Country Living director. “We hope to provide spaces and services that feel like home. We are conveniently located adjacent to our fine local community hospital. We are very proud of our residences and our contribution to this community.”
Country Living of Larned is owned and operated by a group of local investors who saw a need in the local community for this type of a high-quality health-care facility.
It is expected that the new building will be completed and ready for residency by late 2017. At that time, Country Living will host a Chamber Coffee Hour so that the community may share in this new addition to the area’s health care.
