Carol Warrick, Larned, receives a balloon bouquet as the 3,000th ElderCare Home Services client

Carol Warrick, Larned, proudly announced that he celebrated his 97th birthday on Christmas Day. ElderCare, Inc. also achieved a recent milestone, when Carol became Home Services client number 3,000. The friendly senior was visited at his home where he lives comfortably and independently. He was joined by Ivy, the protective companion dog. The retired Nebraska farmer also enjoys frequent visits from his daughter, Jan.
Carol’s ElderCare worker comes by four days weekly to assist him with his activities of daily living. The military veteran also receives Home Based Primary Care visits from the Hays Veteran’s Administration health staff. “A supportive family, ElderCare services, and coordination with other agencies make for a great ‘team’ to assure that clients are thriving and safe in their own home,” said Karen Sessler, Care Manager.
The ElderCare Home Services program started in October, 1992.  The non-profit agency averages 250 clients served monthly by a staff of about 65 trained home care attendants. Clients are residents of Pawnee, Barton, Stafford, Rush, Pratt, Edwards, Kiowa or Ford counties.  Janet Splitter, PhD, RD, LD is the ElderCare Executive Director. Denise Blackwell is the Care Coordinator in Dodge City, and DeAnn Lowe coordinates the Pratt client care.
Home services are tailored to each individual’s needs, whether requiring two hours monthly or 24/7 care. A potential client is evaluated to develop a plan of care which may include personal care such as bathing and grooming, nursing wellness and medication management, or homemaker services such as housecleaning, meal planning and preparation, laundry, and shopping. The worker may also provide respite for the primary caregiver. Call 620-792-5942 for more information.
