The University of Kansas Health System Great Bend Campus welcomes Scott Schneider, APRN, a family nurse practitioner, certified flight nurse and paramedic, to the Emergency Department care team.
Before joining the health system, Schneider worked in emergency services for 32 years, including 25 years at EagleMed air medical transport service. He started his health-care career working as a paramedic before returning to school to earn a nursing degree and continued in emergency care as a registered nurse.
“I’ve worked closely with the staff and providers at The University of Kansas Health System Emergency Department here in Great Bend for years as a flight nurse,” Schneider said. “I have seen firsthand how accomplished they are, and I can think of no better team to join.”
Schneider earned his paramedic degree from Barton Community College and his associate degree in nursing from North Central Kansas Technical College in Hays. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing and family nurse practitioner from Simmons University in Boston.
Schneider is one of two experienced flight nurses who have joined the Emergency Department care team in 2022. In addition to the emergency care team, orthopedics and general surgery providers are on call to care for patients in the Emergency Department. The health system remains committed to providing excellent care as a designated Level IV Trauma Center for the region.
