Extension hosting livestock insect management meeting

Dr. Cassandra Olds, Professor of Entomology at Kansas State University, is presenting a program on insect control for livestock in March. The program will be held at the Barton County Extension office at 3007 10th Street in Great Bend on Thursday, March 12th. The program will start at 9 a.m. with doughnuts and run about an hour.

Dr. Olds is an expert in control of common livestock pests including flies, and ticks among others. 

Topics covered during the program include:

1. Determining which flies your livestock have a problem with

2. Why flies develop resistance to insecticides

3. What can you do to slow the spread of resistance within fly populations

4. Developing an integrated pest management program
