“The Wheel in the Sky keeps on Turning …”

Journey’s 1978 song has become a theme for one writer who has returned to the Great Bend Tribune.

Mike Gilmore returns to the Tribune staff after a 29-year absence. He last served as the sports editor, leaving in 1992 to pursue other journalistic avenues. His travels took him on a tour of central Kansas, last stopping in Pawnee County for a 10-year newspaper stint. He returns to fill the area reporter’s desk in the newsroom.

“While there have been many changes to the journalism profession in production and technology, one thing remains the same in the Golden Belt,” Gilmore said. “Our people still have stories to tell, and our readers still read about them. That, I believe, is not going to change anytime soon.”

Gilmore resides in Larned with his wife Carol, who shares his love of books, antiques and growing and canning garden produce.
