Great Bend Regional Hospital is proud to announce the hiring of Rachel Mawhirter as the healthcare provider’s new Marketing Director and Physician Recruiter. In this newly developed position, she will be responsible for managing the internal and external communications, advertising, community relations, and physician recruitment for the hospital and its affiliated health clinic and family practice.
“Our owners and board of directors have continually made investments to improve the services and operations at our hospital,” says Brent Hanson, CEO of Great Bend Regional Hospital. “Launching a new marketing and physician recruiting department is another step toward ensuring this facility’s ability to provide the best quality healthcare long into the future.”
Mawhirter was born and raised in Great Bend, graduating from Great Bend High School before attending Barton Community College and Fort Hays State University. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and Certificates in Leadership and Human Resource Management. Mawhirter spent the past eight years as the Marketing Director for the Great Bend Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development. She and her husband, Justin, reside in Great Bend with their two sons, Jace and Emmett.
“I am thrilled to take on the challenge of launching a new marketing department for the hospital and recruiting physicians and surgeons to serve area resident,” Mawhirter says. “In a rural community, it is critical that our residents have access to quality medical providers and I am excited to have a part in ensuring a solid future for our region’s healthcare.”
Outside of work, Mawhirter is active as a board member for the Prairie Godmother Funds at the Golden Belt Community Foundation and volunteers regularly in the children’s ministry at First Assembly of God. She sits on the Steering Committee for the Barton County Young Professionals group, and also serves as the group’s Public Relations Team leader.
