The anniversary tradition will continue with a balloon launch and other activities at Heartland Cancer Center (HCC), 204 Cleveland, on Sunday, Sept. 29.
The public is invited to HCC’s celebration, which begins at 1:30 p.m. with refreshments and tours of the facility. The Circle of Life Balloon Launch will occur at 3 p.m.
“We encourage the community to join us in remembering those who have ended their battle with cancer, as well as the survivors and caregivers,” said Mark Mingenback, St. Rose Ambulatory and Surgery Center director of marketing. “We are hosting these special activities so we can all come together to remember and celebrate.”
Three colors of balloons will be available, representing memorials, survivors and caregivers. Those who want to indicate a certain person’s name on a balloon tag may do so in advance at HCC or on the day of the event.
The Touched by Cancer Support Group at HCC sponsors the annual event and helps coordinate the activities.
“All of us truly appreciate the support group’s continued commitment to Heartland Cancer Center,” Mingenback said. “This event grows in popularity each year because of their dedication. Most of us have been touched by cancer in one way or another and this special event offers the community an afternoon of talking with survivors and remembering loved ones.”
HCC, which opened in 2003, is part of the St. Rose family.
