It is crunch time for holiday table decorators as they plan and prepare for this weekend’s Holiday Tables Spectacular at Rosewood Furniture Gallery in downtown Great Bend. Approximately 20 tables will be decorated for the come-and-go event. Holiday Tables Spectacular is slated from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10 at the Furniture Gallery, located at 1607 Main Street.
This year, decorators have extra incentive as the tables will be judged in three categories: People’s Choice, Most Creative, and Most Complete. Winners in each category will receive a commemorative bottle of Rosewood Wine and a $50 gift certificate, good for purchase at either of Rosewood’s retail locations.
“We’re grateful to all of our talented decorators who have come forward to help us create a festive holiday atmosphere for this year’s Holiday Tables Spectacular,” said Rosewood Services Executive Director Tammy Hammond. “We thought we would add an element of interest for them by introducing the three award categories. The People’s Choice award also allows the public to be involved in the fun process of choosing a winner in that category.”
The table decorating entries range from themes of traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas to wintry bliss, to quirky and whimsical themes hard to imagine.
Some of the entry themes slated for Sunday are:
Chic and Classy Winter Wonderland with the theme described as “Chrystal Silver and Cobalt Blue come together for an enhancing and elegant combination of sophistication for your holiday season.”
Golden Glow of Christmas - theme:  “Light up your home this Christmas Season with the glamour of a golden glow.”
Giving Thanks - theme:  “Giving thanks for blessings of God and Love sent from above.”
About To Hatch - theme: “Celebrating the mommy to be with a bird themed baby shower.”
Mixed and Matched - theme: “What was left over after the bull left the china shop.”
Several other table names on tap for Sunday are: Vintage Jingle Bells, China Doll Tea Party, Thoughts of Thanksgiving, and Bird Nest Table and Chairs with Nests.
The public is encouraged to attend the Sunday afternoon event. Entry is $5 and includes up to five tastings of Rosewood wine. Other beverages will also be served, along with hors devours made by Rosewood Industrial Kitchen, which bakes products for its retail stores.
Holiday Table organizers are asking people to purchase tickets in advance, if possible. If not, tickets will be sold at the door on Sunday. Tickets can be purchased in advance during business hours at the Rosewood Furniture Gallery and at the Rosewood Wine Cellar, both located in downtown Great Bend. Or call Rosewood at 620-793-5888 to order delivery of tickets.
Proceeds from “Holiday Tables Spectacular” goes to Rosewood’s non-profit Roots & Wings Foundation, which helps to fund educational, medical, and therapeutic expenses not covered by other means for people with developmental disabilities who are served by Rosewood Services.
In addition to Holiday Tables Spectacular, Rosewood is offering four drawings that will be announced during Sunday’s event. People can sign up at Holiday Tables or in advance during business hours at the Furniture Gallery or the Wine Cellar. They do not have to be present at “Holiday Tables” to win. The Foundation suggests a donation of $2 per ticket or $5 for three tickets. The top drawing to be given is a free wine tasting with hors devours for eight people, hosted by the Rosewood Winery. The winner of the wine tasting drawing must be at least 21 years old to claim the prize. Rosewood will also hold drawings for a horse hair pottery piece, a furniture item, and a table centerpiece for Christmas.
“There aren’t many events where a $5 ticket allows someone to enjoy a unique holiday atmosphere with food, wine and other festivities, but that is exactly what folks will get at the Rosewood Furniture Gallery on Sunday afternoon,” said Hammond. “We encourage people to attend with friends and family and make it a truly memorable event for them, as well as us.”
