KAKE TV was recently awarded a regional Emmy for outstanding newscast by the Heartland Chapter of the National Television Academy Awards. KAKE’s “Good Morning Kansas” program was honored with the award for Best Morning Newscast – Medium Market. “Good Morning Kansas” is anchored by Jemelle Holopirek and meteorologist Frank Waugh, produced by Melisha Regier and directed by Russ Sturm. KAKE was the only Wichita television station to receive an Emmy award in this year’s competition.
The 28th annual Heartland Regional Emmy® Awards and Silver Circle presentations were held Saturday, July 12th. The Heartland chapter was founded in 1986 as a non-profit organization affiliated with the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS). Over 550 television professionals in the five state region of Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming and Oklahoma enjoy membership in the Academy.
