The Kansas Department of Transportation announces approved bids for state highway construction and maintenance projects in Kansas. The letting took place Oct. 21 in Topeka. Area projects include:

Ellsworth - 140 27 KA 3091 01 – Bridges #050 & #051 (West Spring Creek Drainage), located 1.97 and 2.1 miles east of the K 140 /K 141 junction, bridge replacement, 0.1 mile, Reece Construction Company Inc., Scandia, $1,038,155.65.
The following projects were approved from the Sept. 23 letting:
Rice   80 C 4629 01 - 2.6 miles east and 3.5 miles south of Geneseo, bridge replacement, 0.1 mile, L & M Contractors Inc., Great Bend, $284,291.45.
Ness - 283 68 KA 3055 01 – U.S. 283, from Chestnut approximately 300 feet north of Cedar Street, grade and surfacing, 0.2 mile, Bryant & Bryant Construction Inc., Halstead, $678,630.60.
