Barton Community College Coordinator of Community Education Janet Kirmer receives a big hug from Dean of Workforce Training Elaine Simmons during her retirement reception Monday. Kirmer’s last day is June 28, when she will begin working as the parish secretary for Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Great Bend. “It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time,” she said, but added it is hard to say goodbye after more than 35 years with the college. “The thing I will cherish most about my time at Barton is to see the students grow and fulfill their dreams.”
