Dennis Redburn, Grand Knight for the Great Bend Knights of Columbus, made a welcome visit to Sunflower Diversified Services last week, presenting Sunflower’s Executive Director Jon Prescott with a check.

“I don’t know if everyone is aware of how much financial help the Knights of Columbus and its members provide to nonprofit humanitarian agencies here in central Kansas,” Prescott said. “The Great Bend Knights of Columbus gave us $2,755.62 to use towards our remodeling project to improve our adult services program out at the airport. And when you add the donation that the Ellinwood/Bushton Knights of Columbus gave us a few weeks prior to this ($1,440.80), the Knights of Columbus members are making a huge difference in the lives of those we support who have intellectual disabilities.”

“Knights of Columbus Council has been serving nonprofit Humanitarian agencies in Kansas for over 115 years,” Redburn said. “We focus on being a Catholic, family, fraternal service organization that serves church and community. And locally our support includes helping the Great Bend Rec Commission, the Special Olympics Basketball program, the REACH Program and Emergency Aid for families who have experienced a personal disaster such as a fire, tornado or floods.

Prescott added, “we all need to give generously when we see their council members handing out Tootsie Rolls in our local communities because the funds they raise help so many organizations.”
