First responders, veterans and active military personnel can now get free drinks every Thursday at Perks Coffee Shoppe, 1216 Main, in Great Bend. They will be served free coffee, tea or soda between the hours of 9:30 and 11 a.m.
Store Manager Jacque Fowler said the service is offered as a way to say thank you for all these men and women do. She noted that veterans already go to the American Legion Argonne Post 180 for coffee on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays. “That’s why I chose Thursdays,” she said.
Fowler added that there are already several people attending the Thursday coffees, and they seem to enjoy the conversation and joking with the staff as much as they enjoy the drinks. “It’s a neat place to be."
