SCOTT CITY – Wheatland Electric announces that registration is open for the third annual Co-ops Care Charity Golf Tournament, on Friday, Sept. 17, at The Golf Club at Southwind in Garden City. All proceeds will benefit Cram the Van, the annual food drive designed to raise both cash and can donations for nearly a dozen local food banks across the Wheatland service territory.
Since 2014, efforts have raised the equivalent of 127,000 pounds of food, nearly 64 tons, to stock local food pantries ahead of the holiday season.
The charity tournament is also the kickoff event for Cram the Van season. The entry fee for the 4-man scramble, with a shotgun start at 9 a.m., is $100 per player or $400 per team of four. Players will be provided a light breakfast, lunch, beverage tickets, registration gift bag, and the opportunity to win hole prizes and flighted tournament prizes.
For online registration or sponsorship opportunities, visit https://www.weci.net/coops-care. Paper registration forms are also available at all Wheatland Electric offices.
All proceeds from the event will benefit hungry families across southwest and south-central Kansas communities. Questions can be directed to Alli Conine, manager of member services and corporate communications, at 620-874-4563 or aconine@weci.net.
