WICHITA – Ronald McDonald House Charities Wichita has received a $15,000 Good Neighbor Fund Grant from Spirit AeroSystems. The grant benefits RMHC Wichita’s Adopt A Room project, which provides stability for families, so they can focus their energy and attention on their child.
Families staying at one of Wichita’s two Ronald McDonald Houses receive all the comforts of home, a short distance from the hospital. In addition to guest rooms with private baths, the families also have access to a kitchen stocked with donated food items, comfortable sitting areas with televisions, play areas and laundry facilities.
“After a long day at the hospital, families derive strength and nourishment from the accommodations waiting for them at the Ronald McDonald House,” said Susan Smythe, executive director. “We cannot thank Spirit AeroSystems and their employees enough for their ongoing support of local families in need.”
“I am honored to represent the generous employees at Spirit AeroSystems who give back financially so the Good Neighbor Fund can provide grants to local nonprofit organizations.” Said Jo Miklos, Good Neighbor Fund board president. “Because of their contributions, we are able to give grants like this to Ronald McDonald House Charities to support the great work they do in providing support to families experiencing medical crises.”
For the past 30 years, RMHC Wichita’s Ronald McDonald Houses have kept families together by providing a “home away from home.” Through their two Houses and their Ronald McDonald Family Room, RMHC Wichita has served over 45,000 sick and injured children since their doors opened in 1983.
