Stacy Barnes, City of Greensburg Convention & Tourism; Cris Collier, Great Bend CVB; Christina Haselhorst, Dodge City CVB; Larry Johnson, Finney County CVB/Garden City; Janet Kuhn, Hays CVB; Jenalea Myers, Franklin County CVB and Susan Wettstein, City of Garnett were honored during the 2015 Kansas Tourism Conference for achieving their Kansas Destination Specialist (KDS) certification.
The Travel Industry Association of Kansas (TIAK) established the KDS certification program in 2003, which is designed to familiarize and further one’s knowledge of the State of Kansas, tourism marketing and leadership. Since its inception, 46 people from the Kansas hospitality industry have been named a KDS recipient.
“We are pleased that seven TIAK members were honored this year for achieving their KDS certifications,” said Marlee Carpenter, executive director of TIAK. “The hard work and dedication it takes to obtain this designation shows true leadership in our industry.”
The 2015 Kansas Tourism Conference was held Oct. 26-28 in Wichita. This three day conference is the major annual event for travel and tourism promoters in Kansas. It offers both hoteliers and tourism professionals a variety of educational seminars, workshops and networking opportunities.
