Wrapping up the 13th year of the ABC Program, Sunflower Bank contributed $2,332 to schools and students in the Great Bend area. Add this amount to the previous years’ contributions and the total since the ABC Program’s inception in 2001 is an impressive $34,909 for this area.
Over 300 schools across Kansas, Colorado and Missouri participated in the ABC Program this year, tallying $81,301 in contributions from Sunflower Bank. Sunflower Bank has written checks totaling $820,293 to schools and students across the three-state region since 2001.
“As a community bank, supporting our local schools and students is second nature to us,” said Becca Maxwell, retail service manager. “School expenses are rising and, in most cases, budgets are declining. Luckily, Sunflower Bank has great customers that continue to join with us in doing what we can to help schools in the communities that we love.”
The ABC Program benefited schools and students by:
A – Paying for A’s: Students were encouraged to bring a current report card to their Sunflower Bank branch. In April, five random winners were selected from each Sunflower Bank location, and winners received $10 for every A or equivalent grade, with a matching contribution to their participating school.
B – Earning Bucks for your school: January 1 - March 31, Sunflower Bank customers were able to designate a participating school to receive a contribution from the bank when the customer completed a signed debit card transaction.
C – Cash for schools and you: January 1 - March 31, new customers responding to the promotion were rewarded up to $100 for joining the Sunflower Bank family, with a matching donation going to a participating school.
Through this program and others, Sunflower Bank and employees are also committed to the bank’s mission of “Bringing out the best in the lives we touch…Creating Possibility.”
