Chris Umphres, sports supervisor and facility director at the Great Bend Recreation Commission, has successfully completed the two-year National Recreation & Park Association Directors School.
The NRPA Directors School, at North Carolina State University and the Oglebay National Training Center, is an exclusive professional development opportunity designed to prepare new and potential directors of park and recreation agencies for the challenges of leading and managing effectively. This program is aimed at mid-level managers being groomed for a park or recreation director position.
Umphres, as a mid-level administrative professional at the Great Bend Recreation Commission the past seven years, has successfully completed the Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) exam. GBRC Executive Director Diann Henderson, in announcing Umphres’ accomplishment, noted the exam is the national standard for all park and recreation professionals who want to be at the forefront of their profession.
Chris is married to Terri Umphres and has two children, Carson and Callie.
