The Kansas Sample Foundation recently presented its We Kan! award to Chris McCord, owner of The Historic Wolf Hotel, located a 1 N. Main in Ellinwood. McCord and this staff and volunteers were recognized for “shining a light on the underground,” said Marci Penner, executive director of the Kansas Sampler Foundation.
“Chris has an amazing ability to see possibilities and then make them happen. The underground tunnels are a big part of Ellinwood’s history and it’s wonderful to see that place come alive again through his efforts. We were pleased to give Chris some deserving recognition,” Penner said.
The awards were presented to 10 unsuspecting recipients at the Kansas Sampler Foundation Festival which was held May 6-7 at Winfield.
