At 9 a.m. Thursday, Barton County Administrator Phil Hathcock reported 74 new cases of COVID-19 since the last update on Tuesday. “These numbers do not include approximately 30 cases that were received overnight and have not been recorded into the tracking system,” he said.
The total number of cases reported Tuesday morning was 1,130. The 74 new cases were made up of 23 men and 51 women.
Barton County has issued 4,995 quarantine or isolation orders and 754 remained active. The number of positive active cases was 312 and there have been 12 deaths.

Barton County Health Department continues to identify close contacts of the individuals of each positive case. The health department recommends that people maintain at least a 6-foot social distance from other individuals and cancel mass gatherings where individuals will be in close contact with each other. BCHD also encourages wearing masks, washing hands frequently, covering coughs and sneezes, regularly cleaning high-touch areas and avoiding shaking hands.
