Barton County sees 27 new COVID-19 cases in past week

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment continues to post weekly updates on COVID-19 in the state. As of 9 a.m. Wednesday, there were 4,706 new cases and three new deaths reported since the previous Wednesday, June 1. Over the course of the pandemic, there have been 793,833 COVID-19 cases and 8,946 related deaths reported statewide.

The weekly cumulative incidence rate, starting May 28 and ending June 3, shows the number of new cases for area counties as follows:

• Barton, 20; the incident rate is ranked “substantial,” at 50-99 cases per 100,000 people

• Ellsworth, 3; ranked “moderate,” at 10-49 cases per 100,000

• Pawnee, 4; ranked “substantial”

• Rice, 11; ranked “high,” at 100 or more cases per 100,000

• Rush, 0; ranked “low”

• Russell, 1; ranked “moderate”

• Stafford, 19, ranked “high”

Although data from the last five days is considered less complete, here are the total number of cases by area county throughout the pandemic as of 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, with any change from June 1:

• Barton 6,571 (+27)

• Ellsworth 2,025 (+3)

• Pawnee 2,176 (+19)

• Rice 2,636 (+13)

• Rush 817 (+6)

• Russell 1,893 (+5)

• Stafford 1,167 (+11)
