Barton County sees five new COVID cases in the past week

Heading toward Memorial Day weekend, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment reports 1,212,530 Kansans – 41.6% of the total population, have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 947,390 have received a second dose.

The rate of people 16 years of age and older vaccinated with at least one dose is shown for area counties, followed by the percentage who have completed the vaccine series.

• Rice 41.88; 35.68

• Russell 43.53; 38.86%

As of 9 a.m. Wednesday, Kansas has had 313,720 COVID-19 cases to date, resulting in 10,684 hospitalizations and 5,067 statewide deaths. There were 446 new cases, 54 new hospitalizations and nine new deaths reported since Monday, May 24.
