On Saturday morning, Barton County Public Information Officer Donna Zimmerman announced the Barton County Health Department has identified support staff members testing positive for COVID-19. Currently, the Health Department is following KDHE guidelines and recommendations. During contact investigation it was determined that members of the public were not close contacts.

According to Saturday release, services at the Health Department will not be affected and continue as planned. 

“Due to the responsibilities of the Health Department, this is not unexpected, and appropriate measures are in place to mitigate this event,” the county’s statement indicated. “Barton County appreciates the Health Department staff and other front-line workers who have devoted themselves to this pandemic by putting themselves in harm’s way every day.”
