More than 10 million Americans have received their first COVID-19 vaccination, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In Kansas, 83,293 individuals have received the first dose in the two-dose series and 13,496 have received the second dose.
In Kansas, vaccine administrators are required to report information to both a federal system, Vaccine Finder, and a state system, WebIZ. Through the WebIZ system, Kansas is reporting 93,885 doses administered as of 8 a.m. on Wednesday, January 13, which includes both first and second doses for some. This information can be found on the new website, www.KansasVaccine.gov, which is updated regularly.
Barton County
Barton County Administrator Phil Hathcock released new COVID-19 numbers at noon Friday, Jan. 15.
The county has seen 2,243 positive cases, an increase of 53 since the previous report a week earlier on Friday, Jan. 8. There were 99 active positive cases on Jan. 15.
To date, there have been 952 males and 1,291 males who were positive cases. The 53 new cases represent 22 males and 31 females. Of the new cases, one resides in Ellinwood, 29 in Great Bend, six in Hoisington and 17 in rural Barton County.

Great Bend USD 428
A student at Great Bend High School tested positive on Wednesday, Jan. 13. Eight close contacts were identified at GBHS and the student has one sibling in elementary school.
COVID incidents in Great Bend USD 428 are provided by school nurses and posted on the district website (greatbendschools.net) after contact tracing is complete and close contacts have been notified.
Statewide
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (coronavirus.kdheks.gov) reports that Kansas has had 256,134 COVID-19 cases as of 9 a.m. Friday, resulting in 7,713 hospitalizations and 3,502 statewide deaths. There were 4,093 new cases, 147 new deaths and 173 new hospitalizations reported since Wednesday, Jan. 13.

KDHE also reports Barton County has had 80 COVID-19 hospitalizations, with 19 intensive care unit admissions, seven uses of mechanical ventilation and 57 discharged patients. Data only includes cases with available discharge information reported to KDHE.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports there have been 23 million cases in the United States and 383,351 related deaths as of Thursday. Johns Hopkins University of Medicine reports there have been 93.5 million global cases and more than 2 million global deaths.
