Great Bend Police Chief David Bailey announced Wednesday morning the department will be back at full staffing levels as of Friday, Sept. 18 after several positive cases of COVID-19 within the department left the department temporarily short-staffed. He said all personnel who either tested positive or were quarantined due to potential exposure will be returning to duty as of Friday.

A release from the City of Great Bend dated Friday, Sept. 11 indicated state health officials had identified several positive cases of COVID-19 within the department.

Bailey expressed gratitude to the Barton County Sheriff’s Office for its willingness to assist in filling in.
