HOISINGTON — In the Wednesday, March 18 Great Bend Tribune article, “Some public centers in county still open among closures,” it was reported that there would be “no Friendship meals this week due to the closure this week of Elder Care in Great Bend.”
The Tribune was informed Wednesday that while the Friendship House facility in Hoisington is closed, carry-out meals are still available there.
Sharon Schmitt at ElderCare Inc. in Great Bend confirmed the company is continuing to supply carry-out meals to 38 of the 39 sites they serve. Only Leoti has shut down its program completely.
“We aren’t recommending anyone shut down, but we are urging them to be cautious, and we are recommending carry-out service,” she said. “People can walk up to get their meal or they can have it brought out to their car.”
The meals are still prepared by reservation, and 24 hour notice is still required, Schmitt said.
The Hoisington Trolley, which likewise operates from The Friendship House, is still providing transportation on a limited basis at this time.
The Friendship House is located at the northeast corner of Pride Park at 410 E. 3rd St., Hoisington, and can be reached by phone at 620-653-2555.
