KDHE releases newest COVID-19 stats

As of 9 a.m. Monday, Kansas has had 730,670 COVID-19 cases over the course of the pandemic, resulting in 18,238 hospitalizations and 7,536 statewide deaths. There were 7,846 new cases, 54 new hospitalizations and 54 new deaths reported since Friday, Jan. 28. There were no new area deaths, but a Barton County hospital reported one new admission to a hospital’s intensive care unit for a case attributed to COVID.

Nationwide, there have been 74.74 million confirmed cases in the U.S. to date, and 885,801 deaths, according to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center.

Here are the death totals for area counties as of 9 a.m. Monday. These numbers were unchanged from Friday:

Hospitalizations

The Great Bend Tribune also reports on COVID-19-related hospitalizations in Barton, Pawnee and Stafford counties. 

• As of 9 a.m. Monday, Barton County has reported 169 hospitalizations attributed to COVID-19 over the course of the pandemic, including 32 intensive care unit (ICU) admissions to date, and 111 discharged patients reported to KDHE. These numbers reflect an increase of one hospitalization and one ICU admission since Friday. The median age of COVID-19 patients admitted this month is 83.

• Pawnee County has reported 73 hospital admissions, 15 ICU admissions and 48 discharged patients to date. These numbers were unchanged from last Wednesday, Jan. 26. The median age of COVID-19 patients admitted this month is 93.

• Stafford County has reported 36 hospital admissions, 15 ICU admissions and 23 discharged patients to date. Admission numbers have not changed since Jan. 5.
