The number of deaths in Barton County attributed to COVID-19 decreased by one on Wednesday when the Kansas Department of Health and Environment released its latest statistics.
Statewide, there have been 305,320 COVID-19 cases, resulting in 9,911 hospitalizations and 4,944 deaths. There were 601 new cases, 14 new deaths and 39 new hospitalizations reported since Monday, April 12.
As of Wednesday, 1,019,650 Kansans – 35.0% of the total population – have received one dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 598,344 people have received a second dose.
Here are the total positive and probable cases for area counties, followed by the total deaths:
• Barton 2,596 cases and 47 deaths (-1)
• Ellsworth 1,217 (+1) and 25
• Pawnee 1,148 (+1) and 13
• Rice 1,067 (+3) and 12
• Rush 430 (-1) and 14
• Russell 857 (+2) and 28 (+1)
• Stafford 338 and 9
On Wednesdays, KDHE releases the names of locations that have five or more cases with symptom onset in the last 14 days. There were no area clusters of this type. The only locations listed were the Kansas State University Center for Child Development in Manhattan, the Olathe Department of Motor Vehicles, Portfolio Recovery Associates in Hutchinson and Schlagel and Associates in Lenexa.
