The Kansas Department of Health and Environment listed Medicalodges long-term care facility in Great Bend as a COVID-19 cluster location this week, along with the Ellsworth Correctional Facility.
Every Wednesday, KDHE publishes the locations that have had five or more COVID-19 cases with symptom onset in the last 14 days. Medicalodges has had 14 cases and the last onset date was Dec. 7. The correctional facility has had 10 and the last onset date was Dec. 8.
Over the course of the pandemic, Kansas has had 493,492 cases of COVID-19, resulting in 16,414 hospitalizations and 6,895 statewide deaths as of 9 a.m. Wednesday. There were 4,138 new cases, 127 new hospitalizations and 20 new deaths reported since Monday. There were no new deaths reported in area counties.

• Barton 4,564 (+30)
• Ellsworth 1,561 (+10)

Hospitalizations
• As of 9 a.m. Wednesday, Barton County has reported 157 hospitalizations attributed to COVID-19 over the course of the pandemic, 31 intensive care unit (ICU) admissions, and 106 discharged patients reported to KDHE to date. These numbers were unchanged from last Friday. The median age of patients admitted so far in December is 58.
• Pawnee County has reported 70 hospital admissions, 15 ICU admissions and 48 discharged patients to date. One of the admissions and one of the dismissals was this week. This was the first time the numbers have changed since Nov. 29. That means the one new patient was not admitted to ICU and was 55 years old.
• Stafford County has reported 34 hospital admissions, an increase of two since Monday. There have been 12 ICU admissions and 19 discharged patients to date. Those numbers were unchanged since last Friday. The median age of patients admitted in December is 54.
