Number of COVID-19 deaths, cases continues to drop

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment reports 16% of all Kansans – 465,622 people – have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine as of 9 a.m. Monday, with 232,986 second doses also reported.

The number of first doses distributed by county for the week of March 7 is: 600 for Barton County; 200 each for Ellsworth, Pawnee and Rice counties; 100 for Russell County; 0 for Rush and Stafford counties.

As of Monday morning, Kansas has had 296,451 total cases to date, 9,411 hospitalizations and 4,816 deaths statewide. There were 590 new cases, four new deaths and 24 new hospitalizations reported since Friday, March 5.

Area counties reported no new deaths over the weekend and only three new confirmed or probable cases – two in Rice County and one in Barton County. Here are the total cases (and deaths) as of Monday:
