Pawnee County sees jump in COVID-19 cases

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment updated its COVID-19 statistics on Friday. To date, there have been 775,813 COVID-19 cases, resulting in 8,635 deaths statewide as of 9 a.m. Friday, April 29. There were 2.017 new cases and 58 new deaths reported since April 22.

Pawnee County was listed as a high-transmission county, with 19 new cases reported since the previous Friday.

Barton, Ellsworth, Rice and Rush counties were ranked low-transmission, while Russell and Stafford counties were ranked moderate-transmission counties.

Here are the area cases totals by county as of 9 a.m. Friday, with any change since April 22:

• Barton 6,496 (+2)

• Ellsworth 2,014

• Pawnee 2,137 (+19)

• Rice 2,611

• Rush 808 (+1)

• Russell 1,882 (+4)

• Stafford 1,139 (+2)

Great Bend USD 428 released its weekly COVID Case Tracking report at noon on Tuesday, April 26. There were two active cases  in the district, one at Eisenhower Elementary School and one at Riley Elementary School.
