be the light

The lights at Great Bend High School’s Memorial Stadium will shine bright on Friday nights through May 15 to celebrate the Senior Class of 2020 and spring athletes, coaches, and families.

Due to later sunsets, the lights will now turn on at 9 p.m. on Fridays for 20 minutes. The scoreboard will also illuminate “2020” to honor the class of 2020.

“I was impressed by the turnout at our first ‘Be the Light’ tribute last week,” said Khris Thexton, USD 428 Superintendent. “It was great to see our families and seniors driving around GBHS and enjoying the beautiful evening.”

The community is invited to drive by GBHS’s Memorial Stadium on Friday evenings through May 15 to witness this tribute. Participants are asked to remain in their vehicles in order to adhere to social distancing guidelines and to abide by all traffic laws.

For more information about this tribute to the Class of 2020 and GBHS’s Spring Athletes, contact the GBHS Activities Office at 620-793-1521.
