Two long-term care facilities were on the cluster list released Wednesday, Jan. 13, by the Kansas Department of Health and Education. Each week, KDHE publishes the names of locations that have five or more COVID-19 cases with symptom onset dates in the last 14 days.
Great Bend Health and Rehab remained on the cluster list for the third week, having 14 positive COVID-19 cases within the last 14 days. The last onset date was Jan. 8. Country Place Senior Living of Hoisington was also on the list this week with five cases. The last onset date there was Jan. 4.
As of 9 a.m. Wednesday, Kansas has had 252,041 COVID-19 cases, resulting in 7,540 hospitalizations and 3,355 statewide deaths. There were 4,539 new cases, 100 new deaths and 189 new hospitalizations reported since Monday, Jan. 11.
KDHE total confirmed or probable COVID-19 cases for area counties: Barton, 2,377; Ellsworth, 1,120; Pawnee, 1,056; Rice, 907; Rush, 383; Russell, 771; Stafford, 306.
KDHE total COVID-related deaths for these counties: Barton, 37; Ellsworth, 18; Pawnee, 8; Rice, 4; Rush, 9; Russell, 18; Stafford, 8.
Total hospitalizations in Barton County: 75, with 19 intensive care unit admissions, seven uses of mechanical ventilation and 52 discharged patients. Data are provided by health-care providers and local health departments into the electronic disease surveillance system EpiTrax. Discharge data only includes cases with available discharge information reported to KDHE. The 75 Barton County patients include two aged 0-9 years, two aged 25-34 years, eight aged 45-54 years, 20 aged 55-64 years, 18 aged 65-74 years, 14 aged 75-84 years and 11 age 85 years or older.
