USD 428 reports 20 active COVID-19 cases Monday

Great Bend USD 428 reported that as of 10:30 a.m. Monday, there were 20 active positive COVID-19 cases in the district. So far this semester, 168 cases have been resolved. Cases include staff and students in district buildings.

The Central Kitchen was added to the building list this week. Although there are no active positive cases there, the district reports two previous cases at that building have been resolved.

KDHE update

Over the course of the pandemic, Kansas has had 442,232 COVID-19 cases as of 9 a.m. Monday, resulting in 15,125 hospitalizations and 6,534 deaths statewide, according to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. There were 1,929 new cases, 30 new hospitalizations and 39 new deaths reported since Friday, Nov. 5. This includes one new death in Barton County and two in Pawnee County.

Hospitalizations as of Monday:

Barton County has reported 131 hospitalizations attributed to COVID-19 over the course of the pandemic, an increase of one since last Friday. The number of intensive care unit (ICU) admissions has not changed at 27.

The number of discharged patients reported to KDHE is 88, up one from Friday. The median age of Barton County patients admitted so far this month is 52.


Pawnee County has reported 65 hospital admissions, an increase of one, with 14 ICU admissions to date (unchanged from Friday) and 46 discharged patients reported (an increase of two). The median age of Pawnee County patients admitted so far this month is 42.


Stafford County has reported 25 hospitalizations, including 10 ICU admissions and 17 discharged patients. The numbers are unchanged from Friday, Oct. 29.
