Alpha Kappa Master meets

The Alpha Kappa Master sorority met on Sept. 10 at the home of Margaret Larson. Following the opening, a thank you note was read from Lisa Spain. The report from the executive board was received and accepted. Marcia King provided the Beta Book drill on the yearly calendar providing clarity to a few forgotten tenets of the sorority. Committee reports included: service, dinners taken to Steve and Lisa Spain, and collecting stuffed bears for a local preschool; courtesy, numerous cards and roses sent and a yellow rose placed on Marty Buster’s grave on Memorial Day; social, a tentative date of Sept. 27 for a road trip to Wilson and Luray; Valentine queen, check on February dinner date with Sweet Traditions. New business included the adoption of the budget. Discussion was held on plans for Founder’s Day during April, in which the chapter is host. 

Connie Carlton presented the program from the yearly theme “A Quilt of Friendship” specifically on the history of Kansas’s quilts. During the social hour, the hostess served refreshments. The next regular meeting will be in the home of Wadonna King at 2:00 p.m. on Oct. 8, with Margaret Larson presenting the program.
