Bob and Deb Hulse

Bobbie and Deb Hulse of McPherson will present an America 250 program, at 7 p.m. Monday, July 27 at the Barton County Historical Society.

The program, held in the Ray Schulz Research Library at the historical village, is free for members and those under 16; others will be admitted for $5 at the door. Memberships are available at the door as well.

Bobbie Hulse is past Kansas Society president and past South Central District Vice President General of the Sons of the American Revolution. Deb Hulse is past regent of the Smoky Hill Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. The couple attended the SAR National Congress in Uncasville, Conn., and embarked on a journey through Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and New York following the gathering. They explored several historical sites significant to the American Revolution.

The program will cover some of the earliest battles of the Revolution, including Fort Crown Point, which was a British fort; Fort Ticonderoga, known for its strategic role in the American Revolutionary War; and the Battles of Saratoga, where crucial battles of the war were held. The Hulses are sharing their love for travel, but also their dedication to preserving and understanding American history.

Barton County Historical Society is located at 85 S. U.S. 281, Great Bend, just south of the Arkansas River bridge. Hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 1-5 p.m. during the summer.
