Mildred Meitner of Great Bend will celebrate her 100th birthday with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the Angus Inn Courtyard. Hosts for the event will be her son and his wife, Gary and Penny Meitner of Great Bend; her grandsons, Troy and Wes Meitner, both of Great Bend; and her granddaughters, Paula Meitner of Great Bend and Christina Andrews of Dorrance.
Mildred was born on Sept. 30, 1911 in Friend, Neb. She married E.F. (Gene) Meitner. He died in 1993. She was an RN at Central Kansas Medical Center until her retirement in 1975.
