Patricia Schmidt will celebrate her 87th birthday with a card shower.
She was born on Oct. 11, 1923 in Syracuse. She graduated from Emporia Teachers College in 1945. In 1946, she married Eugene Schmidt. He died in 1986. An organist at the Presbyterian Church in Syracuse for 56 years, she taught piano lessons and was a librarian. In 1992, she moved to Great Bend where she has been active in the Presbyterian Church, P.E.O., Athenian Club and the Community Concert Association. She has a son, Kelly and wife Jan Schmidt of Gregory, Mich.; a daughter, Krista and husband Perry Smith of Great Bend; and two grandchildren, Kelsey Perry and husband Jason and Mason Smith, all of Great Bend.
