American Legion Mid-winter Conference

On Feb. 7, members of the American Legion Auxiliary throughout the state of Kansas met in Winfield at Post #10 located at 115 W 10th Avenue for the annual Mid-Winter Conference. There was a joint session with members of the American Legion beginning. Following the joint session, the Auxiliary proceeded to the First United Methodist Church located at 1000 Millington Street.  Special guests from the Auxiliary’s National organization werein attendance. They included Diane Duscheck, National Children and Youth Chairman and Martha Lee Thatcher, National Chairman for Girls Nation. The Mid-Winter Program featured five informative programs focused on membership recruitment, financial practices for local Units, member relations, responsibilities of chairmen, and team building.
The American Legion Auxiliary is the world’s largest women’s patriotic service organization and was founded in 1919.  There are nearly 800,000 members.
