On Saturday, March 19 kids in the Barton County 4H Shooting Sports project traveled to Pawnee County to compete in the annual Pawnee County Shootout air rifle competition.
In the 7 and 8 year old division Will Clark of Great Bend placed first with 132 total points out of 300. Will also had the high scores in Prone, Standing and Kneeling positions. Dalton Dicks of Great Bend placed second with a score of 101 points out of the possible 300. At this meet the young kids only shot 1 target in each position for a possible score of only 300 points.
In the 9 to 11 year old age group, Katelyn Reh of Ellinwood placed 2nd with a score or 410 out of 600. Katelyn also had the high score in the kneeling position in this age group. Kyle Clasen of Great Bend placed 7th and Jeremiah Davis of Ellinwood placed 9th. Also competing in this age group was Zane Allen of Great Bend and Zeb Hughes of Ellinwood.
In the 12 to 13 year old division, Ian Allen of Great Bend placed 2nd with a score of 498 out of 600. Ian also had the high score in the standing position for the age group. Ryan Kohman of Great Bend placed 3rd with a score of 481 out of 600. Ryan also had the high score in the prone position for the age group. Lake Lyman of Ellinwood placed 6th. Shiani Hughes of Ellinwood placed 10th. Also competing in this age group was Caleb Straub of Great Bend.
In the 14 and older division, John Allen of Great Bend placed 2nd with a score of 519 out of 600. Jake Kohman of Great Bend placed 7th. Corey Merten of Great Bend placed 8th. Also competing in this age group was Nicole Davis of Ellinwood and Thomas Thill of Great Bend.
The Barton County team of John Allen, Jake Kohman, Ryan Kohman and Ian Allen took 1st out of 6 county teams that competed at the match.
