Barton County Historical Society will provide a program at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Bob Parrish will entertain with “Great Bend-The First Hundred Years. Fiction and Facts from Bob’s Almanac”.
Robert “Bob” Parrish was educated in Great Bend, graduating from the local high school. He is a veteran of World War 11. After graduating from Kansas University, he returned home to enter in business. He owned and operated Parrish Motor Company for 40 years. Bob has continued to be interested and involved in civic affairs, including serving as Mayor from 1969-76.
Many listeners still enjoy “Pages In Time” the popular radio programs recorded by the late Ray “Jiggs” Schulz and Bob several years ago. The two historians recorded over 100, thirty minute programs on a wide variety of subjects. Bob’s program will explore further interesting facts or fictions about this area.
The meeting is open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend. The program will be held in the main museum building just south of the Arkansas River Bridge on US Highway 281.
