The Central Kansas Association of Retired School Personnel met on May 8, at Montana Mike’s.
Don Halbower reported about the Block Grant Proposal that was passed by the State Legislature was in before a 3 judge panel to see if it was Constitutional or not. If it is not constitutional the legislature would return back into session to approve another fiancé bill for education.
Judy Fox reported that all of the speakers had been confirmed for the upcoming June 2015 Convention.
Guest speaker, David Barnes, spoke about Vortex Day for high school students. They had various seminars for the students and also conducted a juried art show. He spoke about what the process was regarding a juried art show and what to look for. The various contestants’ art will be on display until the end of May. Their next show will be titled “Finding Balance” and Fort Hays State University will be in charge of judging the art work. This show will be the last week of May through the summer.
