One person received what were described as critical injuries in an explosion reported at 3:08 a.m. Wednesday at 705 10th St. in Great Bend.

Central Kansas Threadbenders Quilt Guild winner

The Central Kansas Thread Benders Quilt Guild has been selling chances all year on their 2013 Opportunity Quilt. The lucky ticket was drawn on Dec. 20 at their Christmas party with Joy Terrez (left), of Great Bend, being the lucky recipient. The quilt was pieced and donated to the guild by member Hilda Chakir (right) of Great Bend.
