LARNED — On June 12, members of Fort Larned Chapter of the National Society - Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) toured Edwards and Pawnee counties. The club started at Offerle Park along U.S. 56, visiting DAR Markers along the Santa Fe Trail. Stopping in Kinsley, they took the opportunity to visit the Edwards County Museum. Lunch was at Strate’s Restaurant before continuing to Garfield Park. They then cut across country from U.S. 56 north on 180th Avenue to K-156 east, stopping at the Fort Larned rest area to see another marker. They continued east to Larned State Hospital grounds along the west side along the Pawnee River Crossing before returning to Larned on M Road, known as Scenic Drive to locals. The trip ended at Jordaan Memorial Library.
Members on the trip were Donna Campbell, Merlene Baird, Janet Skelton, Cathy Schoonover, Brenda Van Meter and Cynthia Perez.
There will be no July or August meeting. Meetings will resume at 2 p.m. on Sept. 11 at Jordaan Memorial Library.
