The Daughters of Isabella Circle No. 744 Great Bend recently attended a Mass celebrating the circle’s 70th anniversary.
The Circle was formed with sponsorship by the Knights of Columbus in 1947 with 85 charter members. Mary Marcella Weide is the only living charter member and is 99 years of age.
A dinner held at the St. Patrick Parish Center included honored guests Belinda Kasper, State Regent, Sr. Marie Antoinette Klein, daughter of charter member Mary Klein, Father Ted Stoecklein, Circle Chaplain, Father Don Bedore, and Father Louis Trung Dinh Hoang. Everyone was welcomed by local Regent Jolene Rziha and Mistress of Ceremonies was Brenda Unrein, State Auditor and Past Local Regent. Chancellor and 60 year member, Barbara Steiner regaled the group with experiences of past occasions and read the names of charter members.
