The local McPherson and area Lions Clubs will host Lion leaders from all across Kansas on Aug. 12-14, at the Best Western Convention Complex in McPherson.
This will be the first meeting of the club year of the State Council of Governors, led by Council Chairwoman Fran Smith of Ulysses. The District Governors are: West - Kerry Hookstra of Downs; North East - Linda Leander of Asseria; and South East - Marge Zakoura-Vaughan of Wichita.
The State Council of Governors is the official governing body of all Kansas Lions Clubs, and meets four times each club year. In addition, all three Kansas Lions Foundations and most State Committees hold planning and evaluation meetings designed to assist local clubs in service to their hometown communities.
Adult Services Committees are Diabetes Awareness; Eye Bank Cornea Transplant information; Eyeglass Recycling; Environmental Photo Contests; Membership and Leadership Promotion; and Public Relations and Media.
Youth Services Committees include the State and International Band Program; Peace Poster Contest; Summer Camps for Vision and Hearing Challenged Children; and Leo Clubs for school-age students involved in community-based service projects.
