Tristan Mitchell was recently awarded the prestigious Eagle Scout award at a Boy Scout Troop 184 Eagle Court of Honor. The Eagle Scout award is the highest youth honor in scouting. Mitchell’s Eagle service project consisted of refurbishing and painting the playground equipment, added a second wheelchair swing, put up 37’ of chain link fence and built two soccer goals, at Eisenhower Grade School. He spent 127 hours on this project.
Mitchell has served in numerous leadership positions, including Senior Patrol Leader twice. Under his leadership Troop 184 received the Baden Powell award at Camp Hansen. He is a Brotherhood Order of the Arrow Member, an Honor Camping society. Mitchell completed the Council Advanced Youth Leadership Experience training course at Quivira Scout Ranch and he earned the God and Country award. He is the son of Darrell and Michelle Mitchell.
The opening ceremony was conducted by Matt Fehr. Nancy Mitchell PMA, aunt of Tristan Mitchell, delivered the Invocation. Other Kanza District Scouters participating in the ceremony were Kenton Abbott, District Commissioner, Darwin Schloemer, District Advancement Chairman, and  Bill McKown, Quivera Council Executive Board Member. Scoutmaster Darrell Mitchell presented Tristan the Eagle Scout Award.
Sam Phillips and Cory Merten served as the Eagle Court Escorts. The Color Guard was comprised of Troop 184 Scouts. Bill McKown, delivering the Eagle Charge stated only 4% of all scouts earn the Eagle Scout Award.
In the history of Troop 184, 50 young men have earned the Eagle Scout Award.
